A letter for you

Dear you,

Sometimes the most interesting line is already in the material. The grain in this wood slab can suggest a river or a canyon, but it is still wood: with knots, natural edges and a flow that does not follow a ruler. We like giving those features enough space to be seen within the rectangular composition.

Layered preserved moss surrounds the slab, setting the wood's flowing surface against a different kind of texture. The slim black frame brings the arrangement back to a clear outer shape. We assemble the elements by hand, keeping the relationship between wood and green areas at the center of the piece rather than treating the grain as a background detail.

When you look at it, you might see a landscape, or simply enjoy the contrast of the materials. Both are welcome. We imagine it sharing a room with ordinary things: a dining table, a favourite chair, a shelf of books. Our hope is not that it makes the room into somewhere else, but that it gives you one more thing to enjoy in the place you already call home.

With care,

Your makers at Oh Handmade
